Professional Qualifications

Bowfin Environmental Consulting is owned and operated by Michelle (Nunas) Lavictoire, B.Sc. Michelle has taken the Identification of Ontario Fishes offered by the Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation Biology at the Royal Ontario Museum and has her Class-1 Electrofishing Certification Course offered by the Watershed Science Centre. Michelle is a member of the St. Lawrence River Restoration Council in Cornwall, Canadian Society of Environmental Biologists and the American Fisheries Society.

 

Michelle is an ecologist with extensive experience in environmental assessments, freshwater and marine habitat assessment, route selection, watershed studies and terrestrial and fisheries inventories including habitat mapping, stream classification, underwater surveys, electroshocking, and development of mitigation and compensation measures. She has also planned and run workshops and assisted in public meetings. Michelle has completed environmental assessments in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia and aquatic fisheries inventories in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia (marine and freshwater) and Indonesia (marine). Her experience includes highway and pipelines projects as well as residential and aggregate developments, wastewater treatment plant monitoring and small hydroelectric facilities. These projects have involved obtaining approvals under the Fisheries Act as well as working extensively with various agencies, consulting engineers, planners and members of other disciplines.
